EMBROIDERY

EMBROIDERY METHODS

Flat Embroidery

Traditional flat embroidery is the most common type of embroidery and consists of sewing thin embroidery thread onto fabric to construct a pattern. This can be done to almost any design on any fabric.

Puff Embroidery

Unlike traditional flat embroidery, puff embroidery is done by stitching over a piece of foam to form a puffed up 3-D effect. This is typically done on hats and requires a simple design.

Appliqué Embroidery

Appliqué Embroidery consists of taking pieces or patches of fabric in different shapes and patterns and sewing them onto a larger piece to form a picture or pattern. This can also be called distressed embroidery.

Chenille Embroidery

Chenille Embroidery is a specialized loop or chain embroidery, which is made with yarn, not typical embroidery threads. It has more volume and a softer hand feel.
